TANGLE RIDGE GOLF CLUB (972-299-6837)
Texas Golf Course Review
Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie south of Fort Worth is a par 72 Jeff Brauer design that is recognized as one of the states top championship golf courses. Nestled between Joe Pool Lake and the Mountain Creek Escarpment, this layout features a number of elevated tees, an open rolling terrain, and some outstanding sand and water features.
The landing zones are fairly generous off the tee, allowing golfers of all skill levels to experience an enjoyable, non-intimidating round. Avid golfers will discover enough challenges to keep the round interesting - and will be drawn to use practically every club in their bag. Dramatic mounding often frames the fairways and large, undulating green complexes, which often feature ridged and multiple tiered putting surfaces.
Creek crossings will also affect player's strategies, as golfers will have to make decisions regarding shot placement. Tree lined roughs are hazards to be avoided, and surrounding native areas can also cost a few strokes. In total 56 soft sand bunkers come into play, and 9 holes have water hazards. Numerous hand built rock retaining walls also add to the aesthetic beauty.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6835 yards/129 slope, 6337 yards/123 slope, 5969 yards/118 slope for men and 128 for women, and 5187 yards with a slope of 117 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. As these yardages and slopes indicate, this is a player friendly design and is especially fair for female golfers.
On property is a full practice facility with grass range, short game area including sand bunker, plus putting green. Clubhouse facilities include a pro shop plus restaurant/lounge serving breakfast and lunch menus.
The course is quite serene, though residential properties do frame the perimeters. 419 Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens provide optimal playing conditions. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
