PLANTATION GOLF CLUB (972-335-4653)
Texas Golf Course Review
Plantation Golf Club in Frisco just north of Dallas is a par 72, 18-hole championship design by Richard Ellis and part of the Arcis Golf group, a leader in the golf industry consistently providing unrivaled amenities to complement diverse playing experiences for members and guests.
The front and back nines were reversed as well, with the goal to improve the pace of play. Bent grass greens were replaced with Champions Bermuda - a heartier strain that provides consistent playing conditions. The fairways have 419 Bermuda turf - which represent some of the best playing surfaces available.
Situated in the Plantation residential area, this course is built along 125 acres of level terrain with water in play on nine holes, and 20 sand bunkers scattered about the layout. There is some fairway and greenside mounding, but these features are not overstated. The landing zones off the tees are generally wide, providing golfers of all abilities with a player friendly golf experience.
The green complexes are slightly raised, with medium sized, mildly undulating putting surfaces that are generally open in front. There is significant room for recoveries from slightly offline approaches. Pro Link GPS is standard on all carts, providing accurate information from tee to pin, and 100, 150 and 200 yard markers are also posted on the fairways of all par fours and fives.
There are 3 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6375 yards/122 slope, 5876 yards/117 slope, and 4897 yards with a slope of 113 from the front tees. As these distances and slopes indicate - this is a user friendly layout, ideal for mid handicappers and novices.
On property is a full service practice facility (with junior golf academy and camps) that includes a grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting green. The clubhouse features a pro shop, restaurant/lounge serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and 2 banquet rooms that can accommodate up to 150 guests.
