WATERCHASE GOLF CLUB (817-861-4653)
Texas Golf Course Review
Waterchase Golf Club is - simply put - one of the best golf courses in Central Texas - and certainly one of the very top courses we visited in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston regions in the spring of 2007. Golfers will not find a luxurious clubhouse with fine dining and upscale amenities - all the investment here is in the golf course! And it is simply beautiful!
Waterchase Golf Club features a wonderful variety of holes over an interesting terrain that provides a nice mix of tree lined and open designs. The conditioning was immaculate from tee to green on our visit, with manicured 419 bermuda fairways that lead to large, undulating Champions Bermuda greens.
Crafted out of the hills of East Fort Worth with close proximity to the Trinity river, this gorgeous Steven D Plummer layout is also complimented by the on-property Jim McLean Golf Center - situated on what is considered to be one of the greatest practice facilities in the world! Comprehensive programs are available featuring world-class instruction in a world class learning environment.
Golfers will check at the mobile home clubhouse that features a snack area plus pro shop - unpretentious for sure - when compared to the spectacular golf course and upscale practice facilities. There is a spacious, double tiered putting green adjacent, and a wonderfully conditioned targeted range plus comprehensive short game area with sand bunkers nearby. An outdoor pavilion is situated on a hill, providing facilities for outings and events.
On course sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green and 150 yard stakes plus 100, 150 & 200 yard markers (250 on par fives) are situated on the manicured fairways. Pin placement charts are mounted on the carts to indicate the day's hole locations. There are 6 sets of tees that provide plentiful choices for golfers of all skill levels. The tips measure a whopping 7304 yards with a 137 slope, while alternate sets play to distances and slopes measuring 7006 yards/132 slope, 6661 yards/129 slope, 6175 yards/125 slope for men and 150 for women, 5524 yards/123 slope for men and 128 for women, and 4941 yards with a slope of 123 for ladies hitting from the front tees.
Over 50 soft sand bunkers adorn the course and the layout is also replete with some outstanding water features. Eleven holes have water in play - many times in the form of crossing creeks that demand carries off the tee or greenside. There are several holes that demand multiple carries as well. The finishing holes on each nine have spectacular green complexes that are situated on either side of a wonderfully landscaped, cascading waterfall. This certainly leaves one with a lasting impression of the beauty of this property.
This is an outstanding golf course built on a beautiful piece of land. Truly a MUST PLAY! For more info, visit our page for the property, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
