Heritage Ranch Golf Club in Fairview is a beautiful 18-hole Arthur Hills design with dramatic views along an undulating terrain. Lined with aged pecan trees, oaks and cedars, this par 72 layout provides four sets of tees that invite players of all skill levels to enjoy a fair yet challenging experience. The course is part of a semi-private property - open for public play, with memberships available for individuals, families and corporations.
A 24,000 square foot ranch style clubhouse features a nicely stocked pro shop, locker rooms with showers for men and women, the Corral Grill (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday), plus ballroom that can accommodate up to 200 guests for banquets and special events. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker and large putting green. A staff of PGA professionals is available for lessons.
Six sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6988 yards/140 slope, 6472 yards/132 slope, 6051 yards/132 slope, 5686 yards/119 slope, 4946 yards/124 yards (women) and 4000 yards with a slope of 109(women). On course yardages are posted on the fairways and cart paths at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green on all par fours and fives. Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations.
There are 44 sand bunkers situated near the landing the landing zones off the tee or greenside, and water hazards come into play on 10 holes. the par four seventh is a gorgeous golf hole - as it doglegs to the left with an approach over a creek to a beautiful, raised green complex. Most of the fairways, though tree lined - present ample room, and the mildly undulating putting surfaces usually have room for recoveries.
This is a challenging experience for scratch golfers playing from the tips, and for mid handicappers pressing from the nearly 6500 yard white tees. The two forward sets afford higher handicappers with the opportunity to enjoy a fair test. Heritage Ranch is reasonably priced.
