Texas Golf Course Review

Hawks Creek Golf Club - Texas Golf Course

Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village just west of Fort Worth, is a beautiful John Colligan championship design featuring an outstanding variety of holes and great conditioning from tee to green. The course, which features bent grass greens and 419 Bermuda fairways, is kept in lush condition.  The rolling terrain meanders through a residential community, but nonetheless presents a serenely wonderful golf experience.

There are a number of mildly elevated tees, and the green complexes are often gently raised with grassy swales, bunkers and collection areas awaiting off-line approaches. The manicured fairways are tree lined but usually present ample room off the tee. Though this course presents numerous challenges, it is not overly intimidating and the two front sets of tees allow mid-handicappers and novices to enjoy their experience here.

Four sets of tee boxes afford players the opportunity to choose from sets that play to distances and slopes measuring 6847 yards/138 slope, 6482 yards/133 slope, 5997 yards/125 slope, and 5394 yards with a slope of 126 for women hitting from the forward tees. On course yardage markers are posted on the cart paths and fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green on all par fours and fives. Pin placement charts are mounted on all carts.

The clubhouse features a pro shop plus restaurant/lounge serving breakfast and lunch items, and outing/event facilities that can accommodate 144 players. A complete practice facility on property includes a grass driving range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green.

This is a great facility and a very beautiful golf course. It begins strongly with a elevated tee area on the par four 3rd, which is sandwiched between a couple holes sharing an undulating, double green. It also finishes nicely with a par five that demands carries over water off the tee and on the approach. Rates are very reasonable - we highly recommend a round here!
