Texas Golf Course Review

Cowboys Golf Club

The Cowboys Club in Grapevine near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is - simply put - an incredible golf experience. Some of the top awards this property has received in the past include: #1 "Top Courses in the Southwest Region" (Zagat Survey of America's Top Courses; #1 Newcomer in America, #2 in Top 50 Courses in America (Zagat Survey of America's Top Courses); #1 Daily Fee Course in the Metroplex (Avid Golfer Magaine); Honorable Mention in the "Top Ten Courses You Can Play in America (Golf Magazine).

Cowboys Golf Club

This is quite a list of accolades, and during our review visit - we found that the Cowboys Golf Club was indeed living up to their reputation. The facilities here are top notch, including a full service practice area with targeted grass/mat range, short game area with sand traps, and putting/chipping greens. The 12,000 square foot clubhouse features a pro shop, Legends Restaurant/lounge open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus locker rooms with showers for men and women.

Visitors will immediately be impressed by the outstanding conditioning from tee to green on this layout. The golden sand bunkers that can be seen from a distance also leave and indelible impression. The terrain varies but includes scenic elevation changes, forests of trees, and natural waterways that invite plentiful wildlife. And - as this is the first and only NFL themed resort-style golf course, guests will experience an inside look at the legacy and mystique of the Dallas Cowboys!

The property, with all the wonderful amenities that compliment the golf course, is also a great place for banquets, outings and special events. Guests will be thrilled with the resort level of service, and with the extra things (IE star shaped putting green), including pre-event planning and expert award presentations backed by world class service. There also is the prospect of on-site resources for quality merchandise with one of the most successful brands in sports - the Dallas Cowboys!

Cowboys Golf Club

The golf course, with its oasis of trees, waterways, natural habitats and elevation changes, provides 4 sets of tee boxes that are fairly evenly interspersed, providing players of all skills levels with an opportunity to choose a distance that matches their game. The tips play to 7017 yards with a formidable slope of 140 - a great and interesting challenge for low handicappers. Alternate sets measure 6563 yrds/130 slope, 6182 yards/127 slope and 4702 yards with a slope of 114 from the forward tees.

Forty seven soft sand bunkers line the fairways or are situated greenside, and water comes into play in some shape or form on 13 holes, including all of the holes on the back side. Golfers will appreciate the ball and club washers along with the ice chests that are standard on all carts, which also have pin placement sheets which provide info on the day's hole locations. Cart paths and fairways have 100, 150 and 200 yard markers posted on all par furs and fives, and some sprinkler heads also have measurements to the center of the green.
